MSP Server Hosting is an independent reference for managed service providers (MSPs) who run client workloads on shared infrastructure, or who are deciding where to run them. It is written for the provider, not for the end customer: the person weighing isolation models, recovery objectives, capacity headroom and supplier contracts on behalf of a portfolio of clients.
What this site is
A set of long-form technical articles, a worksheet and a rule-based planning tool. The articles cover multi-tenant isolation, virtual server capacity planning, private cloud and network design, dedicated hosting and where to run your own management tooling, backup and recovery, hosting economics, evaluating a hosting provider, and migration. Start from the resources index or go straight to the requirements planner.
What this site is not
It is not a hosting provider. It operates no data centres, sells no hosting, virtual servers, private cloud or backup service, and it publishes no prices, uptime figures, service levels, certifications or capacity numbers, because it has none to publish. It does not recommend or rank suppliers, and it does not compare products. Where a commercial or technical fact depends on a supplier or a software version, the text tells you how to verify it rather than stating it as fixed.
The tool on this site is a questionnaire that applies written rules to your answers. It measures nothing about your systems, it is not an audit, scan, test or certification, and it does not send your answers anywhere.
How to read the articles
- Worked examples use invented, round numbers to show the arithmetic. They are labelled as illustrative and are not benchmarks.
- Commands are shown with placeholder names and addresses. Read them before running them, run them against systems you administer and are authorised to touch, and treat anything marked as destructive with the care it asks for.
- Product behaviour and parameter names change between versions. Confirm in your platform’s own documentation before applying a setting to production.
- Nothing here is legal, compliance or financial advice. Contract and regulatory questions need advice from someone qualified for your jurisdiction.
Independence and corrections
The site has no supplier relationships to declare and carries no advertising. If you find an error, the contact page explains how to reach the site when a direct channel is open and what to include. Corrections to technical claims are welcome, and the articles are revised when they are shown to be wrong.
Privacy
What the site does and does not collect is described plainly on the privacy page.
